SoundBar Mac App Store

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 23. September 2026

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how Hannes Jung (referred to as "Developer") handles the data of users ("User" or "you") of the SoundBar macOS application ("App").

No Collection or Processing of Personal Data:

The Developer does not collect, process, transmit, or share any personal data within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Developer does not operate any servers that receive data from the App, and no analytics, tracking, or advertising technologies are used.

Local Network Access:

By default, the App finds Sonos speakers on your local network and controls them directly over that network. For this, macOS asks you to allow the App access to your local network. Information the App receives from your speakers, such as room names, what is playing, volume, and your Sonos Favorites, is used only to display and control your speakers within the App. It is not stored beyond what is needed for display and is not sent to the Developer or any third party.

Artwork shown in the App is loaded from the address your speaker provides, which may be a server of the music service that is playing.

Optional Sonos Account:

You can optionally sign in with your Sonos account to control your speakers through the Sonos cloud instead. Sign-in takes place on Sonos's own website; the App never sees your Sonos password. After you approve, Sonos sends your browser to a page on this website (sonosbar.hannesjung.at), which passes a one-time sign-in code back to the App. The page does not store or send this code anywhere, but like any web page visit, the request may appear in the web host's standard server logs. The code expires within minutes and cannot be used without the App. The App receives an access token from Sonos, which is stored in your Mac's keychain, and then sends your commands to Sonos's servers. The handling of data by Sonos is governed by Sonos's Privacy Policy. You can sign out at any time in the App's settings, which removes the access token from your Mac.

Settings and Notifications:

Your settings, such as the keyboard shortcut and notification preference, are stored locally on your Mac. If you turn on song change notifications, they are created locally on your Mac by macOS and are not sent anywhere.

User Rights and Options:

Because the Developer does not hold any of your data, there is nothing to request or delete from the Developer. You can remove all data the App keeps on your Mac by signing out of your Sonos account in the App's settings and deleting the App.

This Privacy Policy applies only to the use of the App and does not cover any other websites, services, or applications that may be linked or integrated within the App, including the services of Sonos and of music services.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this Policy, please contact us at mail@hannesjung.at.

Jurisdiction and Governing Law

These terms and conditions, and any disputes or claims arising out of or in connection with the use of SoundBar ("App"), shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Austria.

Any legal disputes or claims arising from the use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Austria. By using the App, you hereby consent to the jurisdiction of the Austrian courts for any such disputes.

In the event of a legal dispute, the parties involved agree to first attempt to resolve the matter through good-faith negotiations. If an amicable resolution cannot be reached, the dispute shall be submitted to the competent court in Austria.
